Father Gill / Papua New Guinea Sighting

William B. Gill, an Anglican priest with a mission in Bosinai, Papas New Guinea, observed craft-like UFOs -- one with Humanoid figures on top -- on two consecutive evenings, June 26-27, 1959. About twenty-five natives, including teachers and medical technicians, also observed the phenomena. They "signaled" the humanoids and received an apparent response. This was one of sixty UFO sightings within a few weeks in the New Guinea area.

About Me

Nick Flaskas
Sydney, NSW, Australia
In 1964 I was 9 years old in 3rd class in primary school. My family and I lived in Temora, a country town in South west NSW. I remember that year there had been a news item about a UFO sighting. There had been a follow up story about an Australian Missionary living in Papua New Guinea, who had seen "occupants" during a sighting several years earlier. The Missionary waved at the "humanoids" and they waved back. Like most news stories it was soon forgotten. 3 years later in 1967 I was 12 and in 6th class at the same school. That winter there had been a report some school teachers were travelling between Temora and Wagga Wagga (50 miles away) one night and could see a bright light following them. The light projected a beam of light on their car and they became very upset. They reported the incident to the Police. This story captured my attention, and I wanted to know more information about UFO'S. Unfortunately in 1967 the school library and the town library didn't have any information on the subject. The internet as a research tool was still 30 years away in the future.
